RAVEN takes flight
So, we launched the book at Nordic Bar W1. Guests were greeted by a real raven; a huge, beautiful, captivating creature that behaved impeccably, that is to say without pecking anyone’s eye out. The bar, festooned with reindeer skins, drinking horns, Viking helmets and flickering torches soon resembled the kind of thronging meadhall that Odin himself would have enjoyed filling with debauchery. Beautiful serving wenches delivered food and shots of akvavit, and a reading by Anthony May conjured the sounds, sights and smells of 9th century Britain. It was a proud evening for a lowly debut author who feels so lucky to have been able to raise a drinking horn with some incredible and generous folk. By the Allfather’s hairy beard, what a beginning!
