Well that’s that. The Giles Kristian rock ‘n’ roll Bookshop and Blog Tour 2011 has come to an end. The dragon-prowed longship has slewed, grinding, up onto the shingle and now passes into legend. So, what trinkets do I take away with me? What hacksilver memories have I stuffed into my sea chest to recall in times to come?

On the road…again.

In my days as a singer I was lucky enough to tour the world, or at least some of it. Let’s just say I got around, from making pop videos in the Swiss Alps, Prague, Mexico, Miami, Germany, Bognor Regis, to gigging at the N.E.C. Wembley Arena, Royal Albert Hall and a myriad of sticky-floored nightclubs the length and breadth of Britain. Continue reading

Story Vs Realism

M.C.Scott (author of The Emperor’s Spy) Lesley Downer (The Courtesan and the Samurai) and I have been chatting about what’s more important in a novel; the story, or the facts? Both Scott and Downer are renowned for their extensive and meticulous research, and yet they are both wonderful story-tellers.
